Funday: Do you prefer singing or acting?
Vanessa Hudgens: I like them both. I love acting and working on the big screen, but I've been doing music ever since I was a kid. With my music career, I'm showing my parents that the singing and dancing classes have finally paid off.

Funday: Did you ever doubt you'd make it big?
Vanessa Hudgens: No, because this is what I've wanted to be ever since I was little. I used to choreograph my own dance routines and I got into musical theatre at a young age too. One thing led to another and here I am.

Funday: What's next for you?
Vanessa Hudgens: I've finally finished my solo album, so I'm touring with that in the US and then I'm working on High School Musical 2. The music is something I've wanted to do for years and I'm really excited that now I have the opportunity to do it. It's been a dream come true to dance to my own music.

Funday: What can you tell us about High School Musical 2?
Vanessa Hudgens: I'm sworn to secrecy so I can't tell you much. But I will say that it starts on the last day of school and takes place over the summer.

Funday: Will you focus on singing after High School Musical 2 finishes filming?
Vanessa Hudgens: No, I still have more big-screen acting aspirations. I would love a role such as Natalie Wood had in the movie West Side Story. She's my idol – I adore her. West Side Story would be so cool.

Funday: How would you describe the sound of your new album?
Vanessa Hudgens: It's pop rock with a bit of dance and everything else you can imagine. It's a complete mixture because I also wanted to incorporate everything from electronica to pop. I want to do something new and unique – in the same way that Gwen Stefani is always different and has her own thing.

Funday: Are you the next Lindsay Lohan? She's also an actress and a singer …
Vanessa Hudgens: I do less partying than Lindsay Lohan. She's great and she's doing phenomenally with all her movies, which is cool. I hope to follow in her footsteps when it comes to the movies, but not necessarily the partying!

Vanessa's debut solo single, Come Back To Me, is released on November 27. Her album, V, follows on December 4
