A family tree of Harry Potter, hand-written by J.K. Rowling, offers a tantalising glimpse into the future of the boy wizard and his pals. But the author promises that the future of her characters, their relationships and children will remain locked in her imagination, ruling out any sequels.
In an ITV1 documentary, to be screened at 7pm tomorrow, Ms Rowling says that despite completing the final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, she cannot quite lay her famous creation to rest.
She felt compelled to map out the futures of the surviving members of the Weasley/Potter clan in a family tree. Readers will know that Harry and Ginny marry and have three children. Luna Lovegood, Harry’s dreamy friend, produces two children, with her naturalist husband, Rolf. Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour have three children, and George Weasley sires a daughter, and a son named Fred after his twin who died in the battle of Hogwarts. “I can’t help it,” the author says in JK Rowling . . . a Year in the Life. “It was like running a race and you get to the finishing line and you’re running too fast to stop, so I do know what happened afterwards and I couldn’t stop my imagination doing that.
“So I know this sounds an awful lot of detail to go into for your own satisfaction and not because you’re planning to write more books, but that’s just how it was. I couldn’t stop,” Ms Rowling said that writers always had to know more detail than was used in a book. “It gives me a certain satisfaction to say what I thought happened and to tell other people that, because I would like my version to be the official version.”
In the film, Ms Rowling runs through the Weasley children one by one and explains where she sees them in life now and pays particular attention to Luna Lovegood. The documentary also follows the author on a private jet with her husband, Neil, as they travel to the US for the final book tour.Ms Rowling makes an emotional return to the Edinburgh flat where she wrote the first book in the Harry Potter series.

I love your books so much that i go on the internet and search for Harry Potter sites. Please write more books!!!!
Lily, Edison, New Jersey
I just hope that J.K.Rowling will write another book. Perhaps about Harry's children on Hogwarts? Or Harry's and Ginny's life after Hogwarts... Anything!
Marie, Belgrade, Serbia
I have read and reread your books , each one over 20 times, and begg you to let us know some details. Like how old aare harry and ginny when the marry. You never said what happens to minerva is she headmisstress? and much more.
miranda , san antonio,
Ms. Rowling after reding all your books since i was 8 i couldnt stop re-reading them they are addicting. and it feels like an entirely new world of possibilities opened up when you added the prolouge at the end of the 7 book that a cliff hanger like that needs to be followed by something incredible.
greg, naperville,
I must say Ms Rowling that the Harry Potter books were fantastic, it was the only books I was reading. I hope that you could make a book of Albus Severus Potter, in the house of Slytherin, I must say, when I was reading the last book I was interested with ASP and how his story would go.
Zakir Yanmaz, Blainville, Canada
I worship your books! I really do! My siblings and friends are often frightened of my strange obsession with Harry Potter. Could you please, please please write a book all about James, Albus and Lily's time at Hogwarts?? What house is James in?? I'd like to see one of Harry's kids in
Hufflepuff!!!
Maddi, Widsor, Australia
I apsolutley adore your books. I admit I was at first hesitent to read them but my friend finally convinced me and I ended up reading the entire series in under two weeks. It has been a year since the last book was released and I am still thinking about your charecters and where they have ended up.
Sarah Stephenson, Winter Park, United States
I love your books! I just read them all for like the fifth time, and I want t do it again. They are just so good.
But there is one thing that I am still wondering what happened to Teddy Lupin? Is he a werewolf or is he more like Bill Weasley?
And just once again: I love these books!
Iben, Aarhus, Denmark
hello :)
I adore the Harry Potter books, but a few characters especially interest me. I was wondering if you would ever consider writing a book of the marauder era. I would love to read about the things they did and how Lily and James fell in love. And I think others would too. please!
Claudia Nizich, Malmö, Sweden
I have always admired your books and your sense of creativity. You are an inspiration to other writers and it is so interesting how you developed your own world in these books. I would love if you would make other ones.
Joseph, Springfield, USA
Jk Rowling, I just have to say a big "Thank You!!" for writing the Harry Potter books! My dad started reading them to me when I was in kindergarten. For the rest of my elementary years, my friends and played Harry Potter almost every day. I can't even begin to say how much I love your great books!!
Lisa Marie, Ashland, USA
Excuse me, J.K. Rowling, but would you possibly consider writing a small story like (Quidditch through the Ages) telling a little of the future of Harry and his friends, please?
Darron Lee, Centreville, USA
There are still a few unanswered Harry questions. One is, does Harry recover his Firebolt, or get a new one? Does he get another owl, and if so, is it another Great Snowy?
My thoughts are that if Ms. Rowling does another fiction book in the Harry Potter universe, why not a collection of short stories involving various characters such as Luna, Hagrid, and/or Neville? I could see a story where Hagrid goes after the legally blind dragon that used to guard Gringotts, and taking it under his wing, as it were. Maybe he'll finally get a dangerous pet he can keep.
I wouldn't mind a story where Harry finally has a conversation with Snape's portrait in the Headmaster's office.
Stephen, Tampa, USA
JK Rowling, I really and truely adore your books. When they first came out my mom wouldn't allow me to read them because she said they were about whitchcraft and stuff. Finally, about a year ago my mom finally said it was ok and I'm so glad she did. You are one of the brilliant authors that inspired me to write as well. I just love all the detail and I can tell that you put your heart into every sentence you wrote. There were a few things that I wish had not happened in the books but I realized that they had to. I think that probably the most tragic thing I read was Fred Weasley's death. My sister who is a twin herself was crying while telling me about it, because she new I would be sad about it because he was one of my favorite characters in the entire series. My absolute favorite character was probably Ron, I loved his personality and sense of humor. I believe that in a way, you writing your books has been a gift to the world. So thank you! I hope I can enjoy more books written by u!
Hannah, Bald Knob, Arkansas
Ms. Rowling, I've loved Harry Potter since I first saw in on shelves all those years ago with book one! And I have to say that I agree with what you said, once you finish writing a story that you've worked hard on, you can't stop, even though you know it needs to end. And I want you to know that you've inspired me to pursue my love for writing. And yes, I admit I was very upset with the 5th Harry Potter book, just because of Sirius' death! But I'm glad that I got to see my favorite character again in your latest book! I hope that you write some more stories for the Harry Potter universe! And I would love to read a kind of back story to the Mauraders! I loved the little snippet you gave in Deathly Hallows about Lily and Sev! I can't wait to see what else you will write! I hope that someday I can be just as good a writer as you are!
Jessi Schoon, Belleville, Illinois
J.K. Rowling you have changed the world with your stories and I really do hope you make a sequel! I love everyhting about it! Maybe except You-know-who (yes I have fear of saying his name) and the death eaters. I hope you do consider picking up a pencil again creating something new and creative. Fred weasley's death was the saddest! RIP Fred!
Camille, Vancouver, Canada
I really, really loved your books, Ms Rowling, you've created an amazing series that I'll read over and over again. But I don't particularly like the George/Angelina pairing. That's really the only one I dislike. Draco ending up with Astoria (or is it Asteria?) was a great touch! I really wish you could write another book--actually, half the world does! Also, I think it would be awesome if you'd write a book about the Marauders. Great series, JKR! I love your books!
Lola, P Rizzle,
Harry Potter is amazing, Rowling u rock harder that any other authors. You are my inspiration and i'm going to be an author just like you and hopefully make fantasy the best ever!!!
Pierre, Manchester, England
thanks so much, j.k. rowling! i'm not as obssesed as some other people, but i'm pretty obsessed. i have to say, having written the harry potter series, you have made a mark in history forever. i can picture myself, when i'm older, saying to my kids, "that's the kind of books you like? back when i was a child, i read this great series call 'harry potter'". you don't know how much these books have changed my life. the way you put so much effort into writing them. some authors just pick names at random, but you have a reason for every name, which is so cool. and all the spells are based on italian, greek, and latin roots. anyway, i just wanted to say that you are totally amazing and that you will always be remembered in my heart!!!!! rock on!
elena, massachusetts
p.s. i really liked to epilouge, the only thing i wanted to know was, what does harry do for a living???? i think it would be a great idea to write the encyclopedea, after a break of course!!!!!!!!
elena, Brookline, massachusetts, usa
I am absolutely and totally obsessed with the Harry Potter world, I want to go to Hogwarts and be a witch and I even dream about going to hogwarts.
Thank you for bringing Harry into my hands and into my life JK.... your the best author ever, and I would love to meet you!

Amazon has posted quite a bit of Beedle the Bard, I have read all the stories and thoroughly enjoyed them, especially the one about the fountain. I think it's brilliant that she did it solely to raise money for charity. If she had mass-released it, it wouldn't be special, but I thought it was very nice of Amazon to share as much as it did.
I wish she would write a couple of prequels, one being Dumbledore's life story, and the other being the story of Harry's parents and their friends from the time they startedvschool right up until the deaths of James and Lily, where Philospher's Stone starts. I won't hold my breath, but I can dream!
Veronica, SW Michigan, USA
Having grown up reading Harry Potter, I have to say I find these little tidbits fascinating. I think for all true Harry Potter fans the interest and the intrigue will never fade - I think it's brilliant that she is letting us know all the things left out from the books! And I also think that money has nothing to do with it - JKR is merely celebrating her characters with people who truely appreciate them!
Danie, Whyalla, South Australia
It's all about money, and very little to do with literature and a naîve public reared on tabloid newspapers and celebrity 'culture' has yet to understand this.
Johanna, Paris, France
Harry's story has been comprehensively told, but there are other stories in that world which I would still love to read. I would like to hear more of "Neville and the Resistance" in year 7. I have always wanted to know about "James and Lily: The Early Years" documenting the original Order of the Phoenix and the events leading up to Voldemort's first attack on Harry. An Anakin Skywalker-style "Downfall of Tom Riddle" is always a possibility or how about the whole story retold from the point of view of Draco Malfoy?
Gemma Godivala, Leighton Buzzard, UK
Heavenly days, has she forgotten every nickel in every child's pocket? It's a shame she is still going on about Harry and, personally, I believe she has defamed the story completely by adding another bit, or two, every few days. In my mind, it makes us wonder if the story was important or filling her bank account.
Me, Southern city, USA
I am a 32 year old man. And unashamebly a harry potter fan, I missed the documentry and have a few unanswered questions, What did Harry and Ginny do for a living, also the rest Hermoine and Ron. I no it sounds trivial but its really bugging me. any answers>

Frankly, my family are all really sick of Rowling. It's time for her to go back into obscurity, because no one really cares.
Jenny, Grand Rapids, MI, US
My children and I have totally enjoyed the Harry Potter books and all the excitment and anticipation that came with waiting for the next book in the series about Harry's adventures and the cast of characters surrounding him. But I have to say, I'm increasingly annoyed with the fact that JK Rowling can't seem to "let go" since the Deathly Hallows came out. To me, the unawsered questions and ambiguities that remain after finishing a book allow me, the reader, to imagine and interpret the story even further,, making it more real and personal to me. She's so intent on filling in all the blanks, dotting all the i's and crossing all the T's, that she's taking a lot of the magic out of it. Harry has been many things to many people, and we should all be able to sit back and enjoy the story for what it has meant to us. They are wonderful stories, but let's leave something to the readers imagination, and give them credit for having one.
Lynn, New Jersey, USA
Ms. Rowlings,
If you have the stories in you head why won't you share them with all who love your stories.
If I could write with the love and understanding of life in todays off beat world I certainly would do so.
If the critics don't like it "oh well that their problem." I understood that this was from your heart and please share your heart with the world.
I can not imagine the pressures you have put upon you..take a brake and go on with your wonderful works...Rex Stout didn't give up and passed his works for another writer to take over after his death..(He was a 2nd cousin of mine and I love him) He wasn't a quitter...Please continue to make the children and adults happy with your tales..I am 70 years and love to read your stories...Sometimes we all need a good writer to make sence of todays relationship with the reality we have to face...
If they don't like your stories tell them to go to H in a hanging basket.
Sylvia Shimandle G. Ohio USA
Thank you for your works love them.

well i dont think my childrean have an ungrateful attitude what did the one book make for charity £1.95 million - if the book was printed and all the proceeds went to charity then how much would it make then??? im sure much more than the above figure - and if you are bringing up children to read lots of information newpapers, books etc then they come across these bits of information kind of hard to ignore - but i do like your point of view Sarah of NY
jacqui , plymouth, devon
Try telling your children that making special books for charity is actually a good thing instead of teaching them this ungrateful attitude. How is it a tease to release bits of information? It's in her head and her fans ask. She answers. Yet another thing she doesn't have to do, but she does it anyway.
You are free to ignore any of her information.
Sarah, New York,
The only problem i have experienced with any of JK Rowling's books is that they end. Although delighted with the concluding book and the success of everyone thereafter, I feel a tremendous sense of loss knowing there will not be another HP. I enjoyed all tremendously; the characters were delightful, the HP world made entirely believable -as were the action sequences. HP may have won but all of us have lost as the series ends. God Bless JK and they joy her work has brought us; I pray she continues to write; perhaps a break in the action will bring inspiration for a new adventure.
Phil Hewett, Woodbridge, New Brunswick, NJ,, usa/NJ
No one says these will ever become books. JRR Tolkein left many notes, papers, etc. as the ideas in his mind for his world grew . There were also books unrelated to the LOTR series, but, along the same lines. Good authors build a world. And over time, that world becomes more and more in focus as it builds itself...
Wes, Iowa City, Iowa, USA
I feel annoyed, too.The more Mrs.Rowling says the more confusion is going on. She never allows critical questions about her work. Most of her statements contain childish stuff and are just meant to push the hype of her mediocre books. Non of her Harry Potter books contain new ideas by the way.
She told the world about her fairytale book and leave millions of children alone with the question why they may not read it. But maybe it is for the "Greater Good"? She maybe plays Machiavelli?
Christiane, Wilhelmsburg, Austria
No.
She's entitled to write what she wants, for whatever audience she wants.
She's not a tame author.
Corsair, Slt.Ste. Marie,
mmm well is any one else a bit annoyed ??? at the author of HP books, for first realeasing the tales of beedle the bard not to the public the millions of kids who have bought her books but to a few choosen (6 i think), then teaseing with releasing crumbs of information my kids keep asking will we get to read the beedle stories? i feel a bit of an annoyonce which seems to be growing
