I wrote this in about 1966 while in form 5 at Methodist College Belfast, near the district of Adelade, which is a surburban station on the Belfast Dublin railway line. Although now an industrial estate it was then the location of the engine sheds at the Belfast end of the line. The Oscar referred to was the Inspector, although we had passes allowing us to cross the line and in practice the staff were always fairly easy going about us visiting the sheds in pursuit of our train spotting.

I will arise and go now

By train to Adelade

An engine shed i'll build there

Of bricks and mortar made

Nine roads will I have there

And a shed for the coaling plant

And i'll live alone on the water tower

And out of Oscar's sight
