Attend an evening with Andre Agassi

This competition has now closed
The Exorcist,
1973 (18)
William Friedkin’s thriller about the possession of a young girl by a demonic
pervert is the horror by which all others are measured.
The Blair Witch Project,
1999 (18)
Introduced verité to the genre, and cultivated a massive following on the
Internet. The student helmers minted a fortune.
Psycho, 1960
(18)
Hitchcock’s seminal thriller butchers the beauty in the second reel. It’s a
toss up who is more disturbed: the director or Norman Bates.
Alien, 1979
(18)
The most original monster since Frankenstein screwed a bolt through Boris
Karloff’s neck.
Ringu (Ring)
1998 (18)
An urban myth about a videotape haunted by an abused and creepy preteen ghost.
Shot with deadpan brilliance by Hideo Nakata.
The Texas Chainsaw
Massacre, 1974 (18)
The abattoir antics of a cannibal family in Tobe Hooper’s classic made a
profound impact on audiences (and imitators) who failed to digest the
humour.
Halloween,
1978 (18)
The first chapter of this suburban franchise was a sensation. It left
pretenders like Friday the 13th looking decidedly short on spooky dates.
Dawn of the Dead,
1978 (18)
George A Romero’s most famous zombie movie, and the first horror film to
equate America’s blinkered consumerism with apocalyptic consequences.
Don’t Look Now,
1973 (18)
The greatest film ever made about grief and the supernatural. Nicolas Roeg’s
film is an art house masterpiece, with the most famous sex scene ever
undressed on screen.
The
Sixth Sense, 1999 (18)
M Night Shyamalan is a very heavy-handed but ballsy director. This eerie
mentor-and-son story is his best. He introduces fresh tricks to
old-fashioned ghosts.
