Wes Anderson’s movie The Darjeeling Limited has been chosen to close this year’s London Film Festival.

Starring Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, and Jason Schwartzman, the movie follows three American brothers on a voyage across India that veers off course.

Anderson, who found a cult following with movies The Royal Tenenbaums and Rushmore, co-wrote the film as well as directing it.

The festival’s artistic director, Sandra Hebron, said the Texan-born director’s film, which is not due to open in the UK until November 23, was an obvious choice for the Closing Gala.

“Wes Anderson and his knockout cast are at their sparkling best in The Darjeeling LImited, and we're very excited to be closing our Festival with this original and hugely enjoyable film from one of our favourite auteurs.”

Canadian director David Cronenberg’s film Eastern Promises, which was shot in London, will open the Times-sponsored festival on October 17.

Sixteen days of film screenings will follow, before Anderson’s movie closes the festival on November 1.

The rest of the 51st festival’s line-up is to be announced on September 13.
