It has become increasingly common for blockbuster movies to have their scripts leaked via the Internet: Edward Norton’s annotated 'Incredible Hulk’ script, for example, is currently available on a number of fan websites for the edification of prospective cinemagoers who don’t like surprises.

One major release that will not be spoiled for audiences, at least not in the short term, is the forthcoming Indiana Jones film Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Several laptops were recently stolen from Steven Spielberg’s Paramount Studios offices which contained, amongst other confidential information, a complete screenplay for the forthcoming film plus budget details and a selection of production stills.

The thief, realising what he had, attempted to hawk the script around the major cinema gossip websites but fell foul of a public-spirited (and anonymous) movie blogger who notified the LAPD resulting in a sting operation which concluded in the arrest of a suspect yesterday afternoon.

The next instalment of the Indiana Jones saga, set in 1957 and reportedly pitting the whip-cracking archaeologist against a group of occultist Nazis in South America, is due for release on May 22, 2008
