Heath Ledger’s unfinished role in the movie The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus could be completed by Jude Law, Johnny Depp and Colin Farrell.
A spokeswoman for Law today told Times Online that the British actor is in discussions to appear alongside Farrell and Depp as the lead character Tony.
"Negotiations have not yet been finalised and his participation will depend on the whole thing falling into place," she said.
The $30 million fantasy film is believed to involve a supernatural mirror that takes people into different dimensions, allowing director Terry Gilliam to switch between actors.
It is thought Gilliam, who previously worked with Ledger on The Brothers Grimm, wants to retain the footage shot of the late actor.
Initially he was believed to have considered using computer-generated imagery to complete the project.
Ledger died on January 22 from an accidental prescription drug overdose. He had just finished shooting a third of the movie in London and was about to begin a 40-day shoot in Vancouver, Canada. Production was suspended immediately after the 28-year-old was found dead in his rented New York apartment.
It is not the first time disaster has struck one of Gilliam’s films. The director, who has co-written The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, was forced to abandon The Man Who Killed Don Quixote after the production suffered freak flash-floods and the 70-year-old lead actor, Jean Rocheforte, became seriously ill.
Shortly after Ledger’s death, the film’s producers paid tribute to the Australian actor, calling him "a great actor, a great friend and a great spirit".
Ledger was farewelled at a memorial service in Perth a week ago. His former fiancé, actress Michelle Williams, attended, but their two-year-old daughter Matilda was absent.
Williams and Ledger met on the set of Brokeback Mountain, and broke up a four months prior to his death.
The actor had subsequently suffered from insomnia and had been taking sleeping pills and anti-anxiety medication.
Earlier this month New York's chief medical officer, Charles Hirsch, ruled Ledger died from the combined effects of six prescription drugs.

All well said. To add, Heath had said that it was teh experience he had working with Gillima in 2005 that gave him the confidence to take on more 'art' roles like "Brokeback". He jumped at the chance to work with the director again. With his untimely passing, it took the likes of Depp, who also loves Gilliam, despite the failed Qixote project, and jumped at the chance to give this movei a chance to survive. Jude and Colin add extra interesting elements in what should be a must-see come 2009.
All in the memory of Heath.

I am so glad that these 3 wonderful men have stepped up and offered to finish this film. It is the best tribute they can do in Heath's honor. I am sure this will mean more to his family than you guys will ever know. Thanks!!
Joy, Columbus,
Heath Ledger was a very gifted actor who is greatly missed by all. I only wish that he would have taken a sabatical from his work when he started experiencing the insomnia and depression. He could have gotten professional help then re-emerged a year or so later renewed and re-energized. But it is most evident that he had a strong work ethic and goals of perfecting his craft. He will always be remembered by his films and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus should definitely be completed by competent actors in his place. It would serve as a great tribute to him.

Without knowing Heath Ledger personally, I can only guess that such a gifted artist would have wanted someone capable to pick up the baton that has fallen. All three mentioned are fine actors.
Heath Ledger touched me deeply with his art. Ang Lee, Ledger, and Jake Gyllenhaal transformed Annie Proulx's story into a powerful visual experience for so many of us.
Through their work, Brokeback Mountain became a part of me and remains a timeless, tragic, and shining portrayal of a love that although killed by the conventions and limitations of time and place, found a way to live on.
Heath paralleled the tragedy he and Jake portrayed on the screen: Life cut short; brilliance doused. The loss of this artist, what he brought to us, and what he could have contributed had he lived, is too painful to describe.
This from one who admired him from a distance. My thoughts are with those who were personally close to him, depite his faults --I know their hearts are aching.

I think its a great idea. I would like for this to be Heath's last role. Even though he will be brilliant in TDK, we can't see his beautiful face.
Bravo to Jude, Johnny, Colin and Terry for this tribute to a wonderful actor and down to earth guy.

As long as they don't totally do away with Heath's performance I'd be very happy at this kind of "tribute".

Heath Ledger is an Amazing Actor. You can believe it because 3 of Hollywood's Leading Men have to take his role. The insomnia, anxiety, and not sleeping well I believe was all caused by him getting into the character of the Joker and not being able to get back into his normal self. We love you Heath. You're Amazing and You will be in our hearts forever.
