Nicole Kidman has given birth to a daughter and joined the list of celebrities who favour unusual baby names.
The Oscar-winning actress, 40, and her country singer husband Keith Urban, also 40, named their baby, born in Nashville this morning, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban.
In a statement posted on his website, Urban said: “Earlier this morning Nic gave birth to our beautiful baby girl, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban.
“We want to thank everybody that has kept us in thier [sic] thoughts and prayers. We feel very blessed and grateful that we can share this joy with all of you today.”
Sunday is the first child for the couple and the third for Kidman, who adopted a boy and a girl with first husband Tom Cruise.
The Australian actress has spoken publicly of her desire for biological children since she divorced Cruise.
She suffered a miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy while married to the Mission Impossible actor and recently accused him of turning their two children against her. She told Heat magazine that Cruise's third wife, Katie Holmes, has taken over her role: “They are closer to their new Mum now”.
After marrying New Zealander Urban in 2006, she admitted: "I think I would be very sad if I wasn't able to have a baby. Keith knows I want one, and he has been getting there slowly."

Congrats on the safe arrival of your baby girl sunday rose. I just want to know why you chose to birth her out of australia, i really did think that would be something that they both would have wanted, considering their always saying how much it is their one true home.
coreena, bundaberg, australia
I wonder why did she have have the baby in Nashville? Is it a comment on the state of the Australian health system? Is she still "our Nicole" in Australia when she abandons Australia for the USA? Those two have voted with their feet when it comes to lifestyle choices.
Max William, Brisbane, Australia
wait until her friends at school call her sunday roast...
lucile, paris, france
Nicole, this is a miracle and answered prayer and the glory goes to God for his handmaid. I was particulary concerned in respect of your painful divorce and my wish for your own biological child. Praise be to God. I am truly happy and delighted for you, and your hubby.
John Jacobs, Harrisburg, United States
The name is lovely. It's also irrelevant and silly to discuss it. This is a woman who has desired and wanted her own biological baby for years. She is now forty years old. No amount of money can replace a precious, much wanted baby.
Julia Larsen, Reigate, UK
It puts my irritation with my first name into perspective.
Derek Smith, Brighton, UK
C'mon, it's still got to be better than 'Shiloh Pitt' - try saying that 10 times without entering dangerous spoonerism territory.
Julia D, London, UK
You gotta be kidding , man . Plainly absurd . Still slightly better than Saturday Clematis ... so it's not all bad . Or is this just an Urban myth ? :D
Benzo, Nr Chelmsford,
I'm glad Nicole has gotten her happy ending. May they all be healthy and happy for as long as possible.
Polly, Suffolk, UK
She's already being called 'Sunday Roast' on the radio here in Perth. That name will surely stick! Poor kid.....
Mike, Perth, W Australia
Can't imagine why parents have to give their children strange names..this poor child will be rubbished at school with taunts...
diana giles, Tenterfield, Australia
Makes Me Think of "Sunday Roast" when I first read it? Even Rose Sunday might sound better... LOL
Rachalmc, Gisborne, New Zealand
At least she had the good sense not to name the baby I Scream Sunday...
Clive Britcher, Caracas, Venezuela
Sunday Rose? Sounds a little too similar to Sunday Roast for my liking...
gw, Lisbon,
Oh dear - I expcted more from Nicole, perhaps a sensible name for a change? Maybe we can cross our fingers that they call her Rose most of the time?
But congrats to the couple, it must be a very happy day for them all.
kaydee, Sydney, Australia
The child that is born on the Sabbath day will be bonnie and blythe and good and gay - you can't wish a child more than that. Seems odd though to name a child Sunday when they were born on a Monday? Perhaps Sunni for short?
Lyndy , Maroubra, Australia
I think it's lovely. I believe her first name is in reference to one of Keith's biggest hits "Raining on Sunday." And a much nicer name than if they wre to call her "Rain Rose."
Jamie, Youngstown, USA
Yet another ridiculous celebrity name.
Catherine, Belfast,
Let's hope they come to their sense and drop the "sunday" part of her name! Good grief!
Isa, Lyon, France
