Inglourious Basterds review I Full Cannes coverage
The most glamorous couple in the world dazzled the crowds in Cannes last night at the world premiere of Quentin Tarantino's new Second World War film.
Angelina Jolie joined Brad Pitt at the Palais des Festivals for the red-carpet screening of his movie Inglourious Basterds, which is up for the coveted Palme d'Or for best movie at the Cannes Film Festival.
Pitt and Jolie looked every inch the Hollywood super-couple as they signed autographs and posed for pictures with fans. Jolie showed off her legs and tattoos in a backless floor-length Versace gown, slashed to the thigh.
Brangelina arrived on the Riviera on Tuesday and were spotted dining in Antibes, a few miles along the coast from Cannes, that evening, but this was their first public outing together in several months.
Pitt, 45, said the film had been "great fun" to make, and he was pleased to be at the festival.
"It's great fun to be here, especially with Quentin and this lovely lady," he said, taking Jolie's arm.
Jolie said it was "wonderful" to be there.
Other cast members including Mike Myers, Michael Fassbender, Diane Kruger and Melanie Laurent walked the red carpet along with Sharon Stone, who is in Cannes for a fundraising event for an Aids charity.
More than a thousand fans packed the street in front of the Palais in warm sunshine to catch a glimpse of the stars, and loudspeakers played classic tracks from Tarantino film soundtracks to entertain them.
The 46-year-old director, who won the Palme 15 years ago with Pulp Fiction, was clearly delighted to be back in Cannes, dancing on the red carpet with Melanie Laurent, one of the film's stars.
At one point it looked as if the pair were about to re-enact John Travolta and Uma Thurman's famous dance routine from Pulp Fiction.
