Picking up where the execrable Alien vs Predator left off, the latest extra-terrestrial death match posits a simple but tantalising question: what would happen if voracious aliens and a dead-eyed predator were let loose in smalltown USA?
There is plenty of scope for local colour alongside the massacre as the beasties stalk their prey through sewers, a swimming pool and even a hospital. We also get a new creature in the form of the “Predalien” – the spawn of a predator impregnated by an alien – who flaunts a gruesome reproductive innovation. The script is laughable and the acting of daytime soap calibre, but the self-styled “Brothers Strause” deserve credit for invigorating the theatre of war.
