The American teen actress Miley Cyrus hails from the Hilary Duff school of wholesome, squeaky-clean candy pop. Here, her singing alter ego, Hannah Montana, from the hit television show of the same name, is filmed on a US tour. The director, Bruce Hendricks, shoots the concert in Disney’s impressive digital 3-D, the high-energy dancers making you jump with their convincing proximity, but the glossy style does little to endear the star to you. She comes across as another (fake) blonde singing vacuous fluff, complete with pushy stage mom. Hendricks is clearly giving the audience what they want, though, as is evident from footage of adoring masses. “She’s a great role model,” they gush – and that’s just the dads. A sure-fire hit for tweenies everywhere, who can enjoy the blonde pixie gyrating inches away from their faces thanks to the special effects.
