The writer/directors Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer return with another of their childish spoofs of recent popcorn movies, a follow-up to Date Movie, Epic Movie and Meet the Spartans. The titles of these films never have much bearing on the contents, but this time the labelling is particularly arbitrary. Disaster Movie hardly considers disaster movies at all, instead targeting this summer’s blockbuster heroes - Indiana Jones, Batman, Hellboy and so on - along with Enchanted and Juno. There is a scintilla more professionalism here than in Friedberg and Seltzer’s previous efforts: they’ve taken the time to write a few songs with lyrics that just about rhyme. Nevertheless, the film is just as thoroughly unfunny as all of their others. I do wish they’d pack it in.
