A documentary about the White Stripes’ Canadian tour, shot by someone who seems to be suffering from palsy, is not an obvious choice of film to release in the cinema. But Under Great White Northern Lights is, for some reason, getting a theatrical showing. The band’s strident energy is probably something that is best experienced live. On film, it just seems a little jangly and disorganised. Jack White showboats his way though the picture, but Meg remains elusive. There’s nothing here that fans don’t already know.
