Alien Hominid

Alien Hominid started life as an internet flash game, but San Diego’s Behemoth development studios have reworked the game for the PS2 and Xbox. The result is this side-scrolling shooter that doubles as an interactive psychedelic cartoon. The cutesy characters are hand-drawn, while the frenetic gameplay holds up across 16 levels.

Dropped into the colourful landscape, players must help to reunite a feisty yellow alien with its spaceship. There are cars, trucks, tanks and the spacecraft for players to control. For a minor change of pace, there are also mini-games, most of which can be played by up to four at a time, while two can play the main game, working in co-operation in the kaleidoscopic landscape. The game moves along swiftly, the controls are immediate and the blast of sound effects adds to the general silliness to ensure fast- moving fun.
