Text Challenge terms and conditions
1. Entrants by text must write TIMES followed by space and then enter their
three numbers, to 60070 (57780 in Republic of Ireland) mobile shortcode. By
entering this competition, you are deemed to have read and understood these
rules and agree to be bound by them.
2. To enter by phone call 09015 332 532 Monday to Saturday.
3. The Times Puzzle page challenge competition is open daily Monday to
Saturday at 7am and closes at 12pm (midnight) each day. All entries must be
received by 12pm (midnight) UK time on the date the newspaper is published.
Text entries received after or prior to these deadlines will not be entered
into the prize draw. The Promoter accepts no liability for any technical
failures or mobile phone operator errors resulting in entries being received
after the deadline.
4. Only correct text and phone entries shall be entered into the prize draw
for the UK and ROI competitions.
5. Each text message or call shall cost £1 (from BT land lines; €1 in Republic
of Ireland).
6. Entrants must be 18 or over and all entrants must be a resident of the
United Kingdom, the Channel Islands the Isle of Man and the Republic of
Ireland.
7. There shall be one winner of a prize per day or as specified in the
newspaper.
8. The daily cash prize will shared between the UK and ROI competition, from
both correct text and phone entries received.
9. The Promoter is Times Newspapers Limited (TNL).
10. The competition is open to all readers of the Newspaper, except employees
and immediate family members of the Promoter.
11. The prize winner shall be notified by phone after the draw is made by TNL
Competitions department.
12. The Promoter reserves the right to publish the name and county of the
prize winner in the newspaper or applicable websites.
13. The Promoter's decision is final and binding. The Promoter reserves the
right to withhold the prize and no correspondence will be entered into.
14. The winning text or phone entry will be chosen in accordance with the laws
of chance. The draw will be made by the competitions department of News
International.
15. The Promoter undertakes to comply with all applicable UK Data Protection
legislation and shall respect the entrant's personal information, including
mobile telephone numbers. The Promoter shall not pass on the entrant's
personal details to any other organisation without the consent of the

General competition terms and conditions
1. By entering the competition you are deemed to have accepted these rules.
These Official Rules cover all competitions played on the timesonline
website and in The Times newspapers.
2. Employees of The Times, TNL, their associated, affiliated or subsidiary
companies, their families, agents or any connected with the site or the
competition are not eligible to enter timesonline competitions.
3. Prizes are as set out in the newspaper and/or on the site. Prizes may vary
from time to time and competition to competition. The prize won will be as
stated for that competition. No entrant can select an alternative prize.
Cash prizes will be paid as a cheque in £stirling.
4. Entrants must be aged 18 or over, unless otherwise stated.
5. Winners must agree to their names and general locations being used for
publicity purposes on the Timesonline site and/or in The Times newspaper.
6. Winners may be required to submit valid identification before receiving
their prize.
7. Winners from outside the UK (if eligible to enter the competition) will be
responsible for delivery of any prize which requires delivery and all import
and export duties, taxes and levies relating to it.
8. For online purposes - day specific competitions: a competition day will
start at 7am and closes at 12pm (midnight) the same day, as per the
newspaper competition.
9. For a list of winners please send a stamped envelope to The Times
Competitions Department, 1 Virginia Street, London, E98 1RL, England,
stating for which competition you would like winners details.
10. The Times newspaper and TNL reserve the right to verify the eligibility of
any winner before a prize is dispatched, and reserve the right to refuse
payment to any winner who has violated these Rules.
11. Winners should allow up to four weeks for delivery of prize.
12. TNL will not be liable for any partial or complete failure in the
transmission or receipt of entries, or any telephone/mobile service provider
error, or for any network computer hardware or software failure of any kind
which may affect or delay entry or performance in any competition.
13. The Editor's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
14. Any party seeking to gain an unfair advantage in any competition by
altering their machine's speed or otherwise hacking or altering the hardware
or software on which the competition is run shall be immediately
disqualified.
15. The Times newspaper and TNL reserve the right at any time to cancel,
modify or supersede the competition if, in our sole discretion, a
competition is not capable of being conducted as specified on the site or in
the newspaper.
