Welsh opera singer-turned-television presenter Charlotte Church has announced she is pregnant.
Church, 21, who found fame as a child classical music star with "the voice of an angel" before remodelling herself as a rock chick and party animal, made the announcement on her website.
In the statement, she and her boyfriend, the 25-year-old rugby star Gavin Henson, said they were "delighted" by the news.
The pair, who have been together since 2005, have been dubbed the Welsh Posh and Becks.
“Charlotte has asked us to bring you the news exclusively today via CharlotteChurch.com that she is pregnant," the statement said.
“For reasons of privacy, Charlotte has chosen not to comment on this matter, other than to confirm that she and her boyfriend, Gavin Henson, are delighted.”
Church, whose debut album was entitled Voice of an Angel, settled down with Henson after a string of relationships covered in lurid detail by the tabloids.
The star, who has performed for Bill Clinton and Pope John Paul II, had recently told of how she wanted to marry the rugby star and settle down.
“If Gavin got me an engagement ring, I would definitely say ‘yes’," she was quoted as saying.
“Gav is the one, he is my fella and I want to have his children.”
The pregnancy announcement marks the latest stage in the Cardiff-born star's roller-coaster career, which started when she was discovered singing opera on Jonathan Ross’s Big Big Talent Show at the age of 11.
Voice of an Angel, released a year later, made the singer the youngest ever to top the classical chart.
Church went on to become a global star and also became one of the handful of British artists to conquer America, going platinum with two albums in one year.
However, in her teenage years she became better known for falling out of nightclubs than for her voice and for dating a string of boyfriends.
Church and her Welsh rugby player boyfriend became in the same year she released her first mainstream album, Tissues And Issues. Its first single, Crazy Chick, went to Number 2 in the charts.
However, she put her singing career on the back-burner to make her foray into TV.
The first series of The Charlotte Church Show kicked off last year and, despite losing out to Jonathan Ross in the ratings, was recommissioned by Channel 4 for two more series.
