Every rock musician’s favourite imaginary band Spinal Tap is reforming (again) this summer in aid of Al Gore’s worldwide wave of Live Earth concerts scheduled for July 7. The band was originally assembled for the cult Rob Reiner comedy This is Spinal Tap in 1984, and has since taken on a life of its own, with sporadic concert appearances, record releases, books and even a much-coveted Simpsons cameo. Christopher Guest, the actor who portrays Tap’s lovably clueless guitar hero Nigel Tufnel, evidently feels that he can do more to sway the global debate with a Wembley Stadium gig and a 15 minute film short than he ever could by taking up his rightful place in the House of Lords as Baron Haden-Guest. Click here for some rare Tap footage to whet your appetite for what must be the most eagerly anticipated comeback in quite some time.
