Bob Geldof has criticised the Live Earth concerts Al Gore has organised to raise awareness of global warming.
The musician, who was behind the Live Aid and Live 8 benefit concerts, told Dutch newspaper de Volkskrant that the summer concerts lack a specific goal.
"I hope they're a success,” he was quoted as saying. “But why is (Gore) actually organizing them? To make us aware of the greenhouse effect? Everybody's known about that problem for years. We are all f***ing conscious of global warming."
The former Boomtown Rats singer’s own charity events, organised to combat poverty, were incredibly successful.
Live Earth concerts will be staged around the world on July 7.
The London concert at Wembley Stadium will feature Madonna, Foo Fighters and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

If he's been so aware of it for so many years, why didn't he do something about it? He's clearly in a position to be able to make a difference. And as he chooses not to in this area, he can't really comment when others decide to do something.
Nick, Manchester, UK
Hi
Anything to raise awareness to keep our planet going is a bonus as far as i am concerned, i love music and dancing and all types of entertainment.
I think Bob may be a little put out as he isnot organising this event himself.
Anyhow, good luck!

How was Live 8 successful. Do will now live in a world without poverty? Live Earth does have a clear goal - that of getting people to demand from industry and government that something needs to be done. Plus Gore has been in an elected position of power unlike Geldof who should run for office if he wants to change the world.
Geoff Widdowson, Manchester,
Sour grapes from Geldof perhaps? He doesn't appear to like someone else trying to help the world.
It just goes to show how he revels in being the centre of attention, and things such as Live 8 were just feeding his own egocentrism as well as fighting poverty.
