Depending on musical taste it's news that will have you pulling on your Girl Power vest or running for the hills.
Scouse singer Mel C has finally succumbed to pressure from her bandmates and said yes to a Spice Girls reunion.
Whiston-born Sporty Spice was the only member of the phenomenally successful girl band resistant to a comeback.
But after years of refusal, she has at last agreed to perform with her ex-bandmates again as a "final goodbye" to fans.
She told radio station BBC London 94.9: "For the first time ever, there is some truth in the rumours. We've been discussing it and it could possibly happen.
"I've always said, 'I don't want to do it, the past is the past. It was amazing, it was magical. We could never recreate it.'
"But this year people have been talking about it and some of the girls have expressed an interest in doing it.
"There is just so much great feeling out there and I just thought, you know what, I don't want to be the person that stops it happening or stops it being a five-piece."
Ex-bandmates Geri Halliwell, Mel B, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham have all agreed to a reunion.
But Mel C insisted the group will not follow the example of Take That and get back together for good.
The band are said to be planning six live shows around the world with gigs in London, Tokyo and Las Vegas, to support their Greatest Hits album due out at the end of the year and are likely to begin rehearsing for the shows after Baby Spice Emma Bunton gives birth to her first baby later this summer.
