Rapper Kanye West has teamed up with a hirsute comedian and legendary alt-country icon for his latest single, You Can't Tell Me Nothing.
West apparently sent US comic Zach Galifianakis the track directly after seeing him perform his stand up in Los Angeles.
The result is a spot-on spoof of hip hop videos shot on a farm and involving tractors, dancing Heidis and alt-country star, Will Oldham, also known as Bonnie Prince Billy.
If you can imagine Gordon Brown directing and starring in an affectionate spoof of the latest Girls Aloud single, you'd be someway to understanding the comedy in two overweight heroes of the indie arts scene 'spitting', 'fronting' and 'bumping', to use hip hop parlance, along to West's urgently delivered soundtrack.
If people have been talking about the death of bling culture, this must surely be the delightful nail in it's hubristic coffin. Is also an amusing lesson in how difficult it is to look 'hard' in a cornfield. And, if you've a pot belly, in silk pyjamas.
Almost makes up for the crap weather we are having.

well maybe- but the shallow aspects of hip hop- the preening and posturing that bling is just a reflection of remains the same In Kanye West's music. The video is a send up which is fresh, but the music needs to follow suit. His 'stronger' tune is regurgitated rubbish.
