Amy Winehouse’s celebrated album Back to Black brought the singer yet more accolades last night when she was nominated for four Mobo awards.

The 23-year-old was nominated for Best UK Female, Best R&B, Best Song, and Best Video, but is unlikely to attend the awards ceremony on September 19.

Winehouse was hospitalised earlier this month for a reported drug overdose, and has since pulled out of a string of performances. Shortly before the Mobo nominations were announced yesterday, she cancelled a tour of the USA scheduled for September.

Dizzee Rascal joined Winehouse in clocking up the most Mobo nods, garnering nominations for Best UK Male, Best Hip Hop, Best Song and Best Video.

The nominations for Best Hip Hop are bound to aggravate the infamous rivalry between rappers Kayne West and 50 Cent, after both were nominated, along with Common, Kano and Dizzee Rascal. 50 Cent has famously said he would quit rapping if West ever outsold him.

The ceremony, to be held at London's 02 Arena, will be the twelfth since the awards were launched to celebrate black music. With Winehouse as well as Joss Stone nominated, this year’s awards continue the trend towards acknowledging white singers, influenced by black music.

Justin Timerlake and Eminem are among past white Mobo nominees, and last year Lady Sovereign and The Streets received nods.
