The rumours that first began in October 2002 look to be solidifying into something like fact, with increasing confidence that three quarters of the legendary rock outfit will play London’s O2 Arena this November.
Certainly there will be a Zeppelin ‘best of’ compilaton, to be called Mothership, released on November 11. Several ticket-sellers have already begun advertising ticket and accommodation packages for between £250 and £350. Veteran concert promoter Harvey Goldsmith has gone on record to deny that the tickets being sold were for a real event, but tellingly his statement was that ‘some’ of the dates announced were fabrications.
The quintessential hedonistic rock band split in 1980, after the alcohol-related death of drummer John ‘Bonzo’ Bonham. Since then they have played two one-off dates, Live Aid in 1985 with Chic drummer Tony Thompson and Phil Collins sitting in for the much missed Bonzo, and then in 1988, at an Atlantic Records event with Bonham’s son Jason sitting in for his father.
Frontman Robert Plant also united for a project with guitarist, producer, and eminence noir Jimmy Page for a project developing from an MTV Unplugged session, where they revisited a number of Zeppelin classics with a Middle-Eastern orchestra. Reputedly, it was the failure to include bassist and multi-instrumentalist John Paul Jones in these sessions that caused the rift that is considered to have been the main obstacle to the band’s reformation.
NME.com reports a conversation with Robert Plant this week in which the still golden-haired rock god describes a successful meeting between the three surviving band members, with Jason Bonham looking set to appear again on the drumstool. Full confirmation is still forthcoming, but it looks increasingly certain that the most eagerly-awaited revival of any band short of the Beatles is finally going to happen this year.

Having seen virtually all the great bands of the rock era, I can state unequivocally that Led Zeppelin were in a class by themselves. No band in rock history, not even the magnificent Who, at their absolute peak, could compete with a fully focused and firing on all cylinders Led Zeppelin. Nobody could. The web site for the 'reunion' tickets received over a BILLION hits in less than a week. Historic demand for just 75% of Zep. Further evidence, if any were needed, that Zeppelin remain by far, the most popular band in rock history. Their fan base was enormous 30 years ago, and obviously it's expanded considerably. It needs to be emphasised that without John Bonham, Led Zeppelin's incomparable engine room and rock's greatest drummer, the true Led Zeppelin ceased to exist. Part of what made Zep so brilliant was the unique almost magical musical chemistry between those four supremely gifted musicians. When Bonham died, Zep died. Their astonishing timeless music, however, will live forever.

The Hammer of the Gods has been heard! I have been a fan forever and consider Led Zeppelin to be the one and only rock 'n roll band to grace the stages of the world. I was too young to see the original Led Zep, but have seen every tour that contained any member since the earlier 80's. Robert Plant, The Firm, Page/Plant, etc. etc. I hope that the O2 concert is a success and that future dates will follow to allow the legion of fans to savor the music that will live on forever.

This would be the ultimate reunion of all time. Could you imagine when you were 14 again a little high and in a great mood (yes im talking about the 70s) and seeing Led Zeppelin on stage. It would be amazing. Yes John is gone but not forgotten. Led Zeppelin to me is by far the best band that ever made music. If it comes off I will travel from Thunder Bay Ontario to hear and see my rock and roll heroes. I have seen many concerts but this would make my old age even better. Long live rock and roll, may it never end.
gord, Thunder Bay, ontario canada
As a big fan of over 30+ years I've always hope to see that reunion. As a young man I went to many concerts in the 70's and 80's, some I remember and some not so well. The 1977 appearence in LA at the Great Western Forum was the best concert I've ever gone to. That night Bonzo played a Moby Dick duet with the Keith Moon, another fallen hero. I sure hope they film this event or better yet go on tour. The Mighty Zep will always be the best foursome rock and roll band ever!
Dave, Rainbow, USA / CA.
Guys get real there will be no concert... as much as I would love to see Plant, Page and Jones all back on stage together we all know deep down in our hearts that it will never be.
Even without there being a concert we all know that the four men in this band wil be the best performers ever to walk the boards of the World stage.
Chris Powell, London, England
After a hard slog through the eighties for Pagey then a solid rebirth throughout the 90's let it happen and let's get the led out!
Fingers crossed, it's been a long time ;)
Jamie Duquette, Montreal, Canada
It would be fantastic to think that we may see Zeppelin reform to play a one off concert. It would be even better to think that they may colaborate once again to produce new music. Both Robert and Jonesy are a wash with ideas and their most recent solo outings have been as interesting and diverse as Zeppelin ever managed to be. God only knows what magnificance would arrive if they managed to create new music together. Never mind a tour of old tunes, get yourselves into a studio together!
tim, middlesbrough,
This project has been a long time in coming about. I hope they're extremely well prepared for this particular ontaking. As I recall it was wonderful to see Plant and Page the last time they played in Cincinnati. I look forward to seeing and listening them both together again. May both Robert Plant and Jimmy Page recieve many blessing for their efforts.
David McIntosh c., Wallnut Hills , Ohio U.SA.
These guys are phenominal musicians with a drummer that has no peer. It is very appropriate to have chosen his son to don the drumkit.
What seperates Zeppelin from the rest is that you can feel their music. It comes from the heart and a foundation of knowledge involving most genres of music, especially the blues. That's why one can "feel" even their studio recordings.
It has been a 40 year love affair between the band and the most loyal fans in music. As fans, seeing the band together enjoying each other on stage has been the one thing that had kept me from feeling proud again.

Fantastic news! I saw Zep 4 times including the last night at Earls Court when they played a titanic 4 hour show finishing after midnight. Still the best rock show I've ever seen. Anyone else out there at the show?
Adrian Bromhead , Bonn, Germany
I saw them in '75 at the Forum in LA. They played for 4 hours and it was the best concert I ever attended (and I have seen everyone!!). I saw Page/Plant at the Hollywood Bowl a few years back and that was totally awesome too. But to have John Paul Jones with Jason Bonham will as close as you can get to the orginal Led Zepp.
I hope that everythins works out and they do a World tour!!
I would happily pay lots to see them play!! ;-)
Don Tallakson, Burbank, California
I saw them at MSG in NYC and I will see them again until I died, these are the real rockers "God save Led Zepp"
james , Bogota, Colombia
I would like to add that I saw the mighty Led zeppelin at Madison Square Garden-(Page/Plant ) In 1995- I had pressbox seats- that I acquired in June for an October show- so therefore I am going to order early for the New York show -which I am so happy they will get it together!
sue, smith, suffolk/new york
Nice ... Very Nice
Been a fan forever and finally they will do a show.
Led Zeppelin are the best there was and the best there ever will be.
Bonham will be there too using his Sons hands and feet.
God Bless the mighty " Zeppelin "
The Song Remains the Same :)
p.s. I saw the band before ... trust me nobody comes close to their abilities and their showmanship.
They have soul which a lot of bands are lacking.
Steve, Innisfil, Canada
is My Bloody Valentine opening?

Hail the mighty Zeppelin !!!
John L. Hamilton, Kansas City, KS
Awesome - they are the best band ever. I have a big poster of them in my bedroom plus I have all their albums. Free bird is a classic.
Dr Jimmy, Clevelnad, USA
Nothing else to say but HURRAH!!!!!!!!!
Kevin Browne, Reading, Berkshire, England
Absolutely! Anything endorsed by the band is fine by me. I was 10 when John Bonham died and I missed Page & Plant. This would be my only chance to see the greatest rock band of all time. With Jason Bonham on drums, it will "fly."
Corey Moar, Kingston, Ontario, Canada

"Conformation"?
Jack, Kent , UK
'eminence noir' ! classic!
paddy, Birmingham, UK
It should be that very line up and only that line up to be anything close to the Led Zep we all knew and loved. I only wish I had been old enough to see them the first time around.
