Kylie Minogue is to mark her return to the music world with a TV special.
The Kylie Show will feature classic hits from her 20-year career, as well as tracks from her new album - the singer’s first since she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005.
The hour-long show will air on ITV1 this autumn and the 39-year-old Australian promises it is an original concept. Rather than sticking with a concert-type programme, her long-time creative director William Baker has helped her devise a "visual experience" to accompany each track.
Minogue said: "Working with ITV on this special has been an incredibly exciting experience. My creative team and I are preparing a fabulous evening with a mixture of old songs, new songs and lots of surprises thrown into the mix as well."
An ITV spokesperson said: "We are delighted to be bringing Kylie to ITV1 in what will become the must-see TV event of the autumn. Working in close collaboration, Kylie, her creative team and the show's producers are pushing the boundaries to create an original and visually breathtaking piece of entertainment."
While her album, X, is not due out until November 26, the pop star is already back making headlines. On Monday she attended the Q Awards, leaving with the Q Idol accolade, acknowledging a career in which she has sold more than 40 million albums.
Later that day former Stone Roses front man Ian Brown ensured the pop singer was the focus of gossip reports after he reportedly said she was unworthy of the award.
“I don’t think she’s cute. She’s a little devil doll. She’s a soap star who makes music for ten-year-olds. There’s a lot of great minds out there making music but she isn’t one of them," he said.
“I love Kylie, but I just don’t think she should have got an award.”
