Amy Winehouse today cancelled her ongoing UK tour after a string of emotional outbursts and below par performances.
Winehouse, 24, said that without the support of her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, she would be unable to fulfil her commitments.
“I can’t give it my all on stage without my Blake,” she said.
“I’m so sorry but I don’t want to do the shows half-heartedly; I love singing. My husband is everything to me and without him it’s just not the same.”
Mr Fielder-Civil was arrested earlier in the month for allegedly trying to bribe a barman he is accused of attacking not to give evidence against him. He is currently in Pentonville Prison on remand.
The singer was due to perform in Bournemouth tonight but announced that all engagements this year will be scrapped.
Island Records issued a statement this evening explaining that gigs in Cardiff, Dublin, Belfast, Manchester and London would not go ahead on the advice of medical experts.
Winehouse's award-winning Back To Black is Britain’s biggest-selling album of the year, with 1.2 million sales, but she has been dogged by reports of marital strife and drug use.
She was booed on the first night of this tour and responded by threatening fans that her husband would confront them once he is released from jail.
The tour has continued with poorly reviewed and often incoherent shows culminating in alarming behaviour after last night’s gig in Brighton. She is said to have run from hotel to hotel in the pouring rain before jumping in a taxi back to London in the early hours of the morning.
Her record company said that refunds would be available for all-ticket holders.
“The rigours involved in touring and the intense emotional strain that Amy has been under in recent weeks have taken their toll,” said a spokesman for Island Records.
“In the interests of her health and well-being, Amy has been ordered to take complete rest and deal with her health issues.”

Saw her play at Hammersmith Apollo last Saturday, there is currently no one at the moment who can touch her for raw soul vocal talent. "Back to Black" the album of the year. Amy will be back fitter and stronger in 2008...
Adam, Southampton,UK,
I think the "American" comment was about the two American commenters down at the bottom, rather than the article.
Anyway, fingers crossed (That we'll never hear of the two of them again, that is).
What exactly is it that makes her "troubled," rather than just a smackhead? Anyone without her money who gets caught doing drugs as much as her would be locked up as a menace, and called a "dangerous deviant" but here we are expected to feel sorry for this "troubled" millionaire who's "job" is getting picture taken at parties.

Um, Jon from Cambridge - if wishing an ill person recovery is "American," then I am proud to be one. I second Phil's comments.
ak, london,
Vastly over-rated novelty act. Living the rock and roll lifestyle without actually playing rock and roll! Too busy getting stoned to play for her fans.
Why don't you listen to a real soul singer like Susan tedeschi?
A singer with a fantastic voice, who tours for a good part of the year ,who can live life on the road, entertain her fans and raise a family, and, she doesnt look like a circus act.

Back to Blake............new dates to be released when he is. Get on with the tour. Will your fans wait? I hope so.
S.Miles, fulham london, england
Unpredictable, honest, crazy and outrageously talented-it's the Amy we all (kind of) know and love. Get some rest, Amy and come back stronger when you get ya mind right. All your REAL fans love you and know better than to wholeheartedly swallow all the cliches reproduced about you in various publications (present company excluded).
We got your back x

Unfortunately one month off and Blake being by her side is not going to fix the problem. She needs sobriety and recovery.
I'm a huge fan and do wish her the best.
Phil, Austin, TX, USA
Good. Maybe that means we can get through two whole days without hearing about her.
millie, exeter, devon
LOL - comments don't come much more American than that.
Jon Fenton, Cambridge, UK
Finally, It took her long enough.
Max, Manchester, UK
good!
raza, manchester,
So if he stays in prison we wont have to hear her sign again? Sounds like a deal to me
madarab, northcote, NZ
that's stupid. she will need the revenues all the more to pay for her husband's counsel.
