Rock Singer KT Tunstall is to marry her drummer boyfriend after he proposed on Christmas Day.

The 32-year-old Scot told of the engagement in a post on her website yesterday.

Luke Bullen, 34, surprised her by unexpectedly turning up at her parents' home in Edinburgh to pop the question.

The drummer, who plays in Tunstall's backing band, called her on Christmas Eve and pretended to be with friends in Norwich, but he was actually in a bar in Edinburgh with her brother. The next morning he surprised her by appearing at her parents' home in St Andrews.

Tunstall wrote on her website: "So, 11 o'clock on Christmas morning, the doorbell goes and it's Luke suited and booted. With all his bags. And a little box. Wrapped with a ribbon. He proposed!"

"Being an opportunist, I obviously said yes! It feels smashing. I’m tempted to be really sad and post a pic of my ring – it’s gorgeous! Keep an eye out for a little sparkle as I’m playing those chords”.

Tunstall said Bullen, 34, had secretly visited her parents a month earlier to ask their permission.

The couple plan to marry this year.

Tunstall rose to fame after her 2005 debut album, Eye to the Telescope, sold 4 million copies worldwide.
