Live updates from the Rough Trade queue
Radiohead have announced they are to play a 'secret' gig at a record shop in East London tonight.
The band issued a statement this morning on their website inviting fans to the Rough Trade record shop in Brick Lane for "a short set of In Rainbows material. It's very limited free entry, first come first served."
The concert will begin at 8pm and will be broadcast on screens outside the shop and via a live webcast on radiohead.com
Anticipating an enthusiastic response, the band say that fans queuing early will be able to get snacks and go for toilet breaks in the shop, adding there are "Good bagels round there. But dress warm...doors won't open until 7. Hope you can make it - should be....interesting. Us being us, we're taking far too many instruments...."
The influential, Oxford-based five-piece are currently at No 2 in the album charts with their seventh studio album, In Rainbows. Last October they created history when the album was released as a free digital download.
Over 1.2 million took Radiohead up on their 'honesty box' offer, paying an average of £2.90 for the album.
At the same time, the band left EMI, their record company of 16 years, to sign with independent label XL, home to bands such as the White Stripes and hotly tipped newcomer, Adele.
The split has proved acrimonious, with much cyberspace mud-slinging. Most recently the band's singer, Thom Yorke, reacted angrily after EMI boss Guy Hands claimed the band left the record company because they refused to accept a deal that would have cost EMI up to £10m.
Yorke hit back with a bitter blog posting on the band's website titled 'EMI are bastards' and denied any truth in the claim.
Tonight Yorke will pull himself away from his keyboard to do what he does best, performing with one of today's best-selling, most downloaded and most innovative rock bands.
