WHO: Crystal Castles

WHAT: Terrible twosome from Toronto glitching their way across the nation like a demented gameboy. Ambitious enough to be the most controversial electronic event since the Y2K scare.

THE HYPE: ‘The most exciting and original band in the world right now’ – Loud and Quiet Magazine

WE SAY: There is something so beautifully pained about their work. With the incessant, inspiring chant, ‘Eyes Lit/I pawn short breaths / I’ve got dark eyelids/ But Life’s Breath like the sun against my head’ this is by far the most delightfully diverse record of the year.

IF YOU ONLY NEED TO KNOW ONE THING: Their first single was actually recorded by mistake. An eager engineer had the tape rolling when in fact they were just sound checking. They liked the result so much it stayed on their EP.

WHEN CAN I GET MY HANDS ON IT: Crystal Castles’ self-titled debut is out March 18, whilst latest single Air War is available on iTunes and vinyl release.
