TRACK OF THE DAY: Better When You’re Naked

WHAT: On the face of things, the feisty Norwegian looks a bit like that one particular aunt that isn’t invited to family occasions but shows up anyway - tipsy and wearing a baseball cap backwards. But Having recently seen her supporting Good Shoes in Brighton, her energetic stage presence and instantly catchy pop songs seem just what this country needs.

THE HYPE: She made the top 20 BBC new talent list at the beginning of the year.

WE SAY: She goes where other female artists on the scene fear to tread – there’ll be no begging for Mercy here, Duffy. Better When You’re Naked is a lusting cacophony of burnished desire that leaves you feeling utterly violated, in the best possible way.

IF YOU ONLY NEED TO KNOW ONE THING: According to her MySpace, Ida Maria comes from a place called Nesna which has 1776 inhabitants, one gas station, two grocery stores, and one closed-down shoe factory called Nesnalobben. It’s a miracle she made it out alive.

WHEN CAN I GET MY HANDS ON IT: Better When You’re Naked isn’t out yet, but former singles Drive Away My Heart and Stella are both available to download from iTunes now.
