We've made some changes
to The Sunday Times

TRACK OF THE DAY: Nobody Cares
WHO: Sarabeth Tucek – one woman and her guitar silently creeping into favour.
WHAT: Ballsy folk rock with a dark twist.
THE HYPE: ‘A perfectly phrased Revolver-referencing slice of power pop’ - The Sunday Times
WE SAY: As the weather decides to cut all the people who suffer from SAD some slack, so it’s time to spring-clean your iPod and load up some sunnier fare. Like this seemingly floaty number.
Having paid her dues over the past five years, working with the likes of Bob Dylan, Smog and The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Tucek has been quietly racking up the plaudits, with Steve Lamacq and the NME among the converts to this low-key, high-impact singer-songwriter. Nobody Cares manages to capture the dreamy essence of a blissed-out Kings Of Leon pretending to be a Byrds cover band doing Substitute by The Who.
But like a velvet glove cast in iron, Tucek’s glistening acoustics mask darker thoughts, as she basically bitch-slaps those prone to self-pity: ‘When you think you’re all alone in the world,’ she says, ‘If you think you’ve never, ever been heard, it’s probably right… ‘cause nobody cares as much as you do’. Ouch.
IF YOU ONLY NEED TO KNOW ONE THING: Tucek can be seen in the infamous rockumentary Dig!. You can’t miss it - Brian Jonestown Massacre loose screw Anton Newcombe introduces her onstage as his sister, then proceeds to swing a boot at a heckler’s head.
WHERE CAN I GET IT: Nobody Cares is out May 26 on Echo.
