TRACK: In Step

WHO: Vincent Frank, an entire corner of the music industry all on his own - producer, DJ, pianist, remixer, label boss, beatboxer, graphic artist, video director.

WHAT: high-end electropop that will have the 99 per cent of all bands unplugging their keyboard forever in resignation.

THE HYPE: 'FrankMusic is like power pop mixed with Nintendo mixed with rave mixed with just about everything you know and love. ' Big Stereo

WE SAY: if Sainsburys has their Taste The Difference range, then this is the pop equivalent. Frankmusic is clearly unafraid to swim in the shallow, commercial end of the mainstream, yet refuses to dumb down his ideas to achieve that end. Taking the Calvin Harris Rubik’s Cube sound and shooting it up with nu-rave adrenaline, it also finds time to wink at Crystal Castles – yet still remains never anything less than utterly accessible.

A fiver says he works with Kylie before the year’s out.

IF I ONLY KNOW ONE THING: if Vincent achieves his goal of world domination, it will be all thanks to the most unlikely of sources. “I knew what I wanted to do as soon as I saw Luke Goss in a Batman bomber jacket,” he laughs. “Bros singing ‘When Will I Be Famous’ was a huge deal.”
