Lily Allen has blamed the recent redundancies at her record label EMI for disrupting the release of her new album.
Allen, who has now completed her second album under the working title Stuck On The Naughty Step, writes in her MySpace blog that she is unsure when it will be on sale.
“Now, the album - it has been finished for a while now. I don't really know what’s going on with it,’ she writes.
“The record industry is a very political place at the moment and I am on EMI records, lots of people have been fired or have taken redundancy recently as the company was taken over by a private equity firm called Terra Firma.
“Many of these people were people assigned to my projects and now I don't quite know what's going on. I'm sure everyone will find their feet soon enough and I'll be able to put the album out soon.”
In January, EMI's new owner, private equity firm Terra Firma, confirmed it was cutting up to 2,000 jobs, nearly a third of its workforce, in a bid to save £200 million a year.
A new song for Allen’s new album was recently leaked online. Click here to listen

Lily Allen worked hard for 2 years, touring the world to promote Alright Still, her father had nothing to do with her fame after she lost her first record deal, at 15 years old with Warner Brothers. The man responsible, for her success is George Lamb, he introduced Lily Allen to Mark Ronson .

A Lily Allen album will make no difference to the musical landscape. She brings nothing new to the table musically, and even her drunken antics, so faithfully "reported" by the gutter press, are old hat. A famous father does not a talented daughter make - cf. Peaches et al.

On the one hand the record industry complains continually about lost revenues through downloading, on the other hand they 'leak' music online like this as part of their promotional strategy.
