Attend an evening with Andre Agassi

TRACK: Tupac Robot Club Rock.
WHO: London club darlings Filthy Dukes.
WHAT: Messy rock beats that go up to 11.
THE HYPE: 'The rising stars of electro pop' – Time Out.
WE SAY: Conspiracy theories are great – especially when they successfully imply that all we hold dear is an illusion and encourage a mistrust in the establishment. So I never got the whole point of the ‘Tupac Isn’t really dead’ one. I mean, where’s the fun in that? Unless you’re the boss of his record company sitting on a pile of unused out-takes, that is.
Still, party-starting electro breakniks Filthy Dukes have evoked the spirit of the poster child of hip-hop and channelled it into a storming push-your-hands-up, beer-on-the-indie-dancefloor tasty little number that keeps his legacy in the front of our memories.
Fittingly starting with some hella doomy Italian horror power chord stings that any dead musical icon would gladly be resurrected to (I’m gonna let this whole analogy drop now if that’s cool, continuity fans), it throws some rousing end-of-the-night rambunctiousness that few will be able to say no to. Tagging up with hipster rap employees of the month Plastic Little does it little harm either.
Sounding how Hot Chip would if they weren’t afraid of having sand kicked in their face, this potently DJ-friendly power electronica should come as no real surprise when you realise that band members Tim Lawton and Olly Dixon are the men behind the Kill Em All club night, which repeatedly tears Fabric a new one, and has wetnursed such acts as Bloc Party and Justice.
Having helped bless the world with the likes of those bands, it seems only fair that some of the magic has rubbed off – and more importantly helped plant an image of a animatronic, rocking and pop-locking Tupac which is far better than the spectral sap hop one we currently have to contend with.
IF YOU ONLY NEED TO KNOW ONE THING: You can catch Filthy Dukes’ on tour at the moment, as they drag their Kill Em All night around the country, featuring the likes of Plastic Little, Metronomy, frYars and Erol Alkan.
WHERE CAN I GET MY HANDS ON IT: Tupac Robot Club Rock is released November 3 on Fiction. Meanwhile, there's a free download of a remix of the track here.
