WE SAY: While the autumnal sun slinks wearily into the straw-lined shoe box in the shed at the bottom of the universe's garden, and prepares to snuggle down and hibernate for another year, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour's debut EP Around The Bend continues to conjure beautiful red, gold and brown images of halcyon summer days and hedonistic summer nights. And, oh yeah, er, yes this is the song from the Apple iPod Touch advert. Product placement? Me?! Not a bit of it.

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour is Lars and Mette; a Copenhagen-based duo (though the membership swells to six when the stage beckons) that indulges its self-professed passion for "Marvin, Stevie and Sly" by knocking out shimmering electronic-funk-pop-soul tunes as smoothly as Simon Cowell rinses out a rancorous remark to a panicky pubescent that thinks that Robson & Jerome wrote Unchained Melody and Boy George's face has always been a colouring book.

Sounding a bit like B-52s covering Little Feat, Around The Bend opens with the now obligatory cow bell "clangs" before succumbing to the charms of a wonderful chiming guitar, a bass line that thumps like a heartbeat struck with an adrenalin shot and a Cathy Davey-esque vocal that drips reverb as aggressively as a Big Mac drips grease onto your jeans on the night bus home. Imagine taking a widescreen movie camera into a working man's club and you're getting close. Brilliant.

IF YOU ONLY NEED TO KNOW ONE THING: The Asteroids Galaxy Tour once rehearsed in a disused air raid shelter and loved the damp fusty air, lack of mobile phone reception and absence of natural light because it kept them focussed on the job. The Asteroids Galaxy Tour is either insanely enthusiastic or enthusiastically insane: you decide.
