Attend a special evening hosted by Mike Atherton

Arctic Monkeys fans could be treated to a show by the elusive supergroup Them Crooked Vultures tonight.
The newly-formed band – made up of Queens of the Stone Age singer and guitarist Josh Homme, Led Zeppelin bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones and Foo Fighters drummer Dave Grohl – are believed to be booked to make a surprise appearance as the Arctic Monkey’s support act in south London tonight.
The band has kept rock enthusiasts guessing since 2005 when Grohl first told an interviewer he was planning the collaboration.
"The next project that I’m trying to initiate involves me on drums, Josh Homme on guitar, and John Paul Jones playing bass," he told Mojo magazine.
"That’s the next album. That wouldn’t suck."
But the trio went quiet until early this month when a snippet of a track appeared online and they launched a mysterious, information-less official website, Facebook page and Twitter account.
Since then the band has thrilled four audiences with surprise gigs, never appearing on the line-up or announcing their bookings.
They made their debut at the after party for Chicago music festival Lollapalooza, the only hint they would appear coming when the logos of Queens of the Stone Age, Led Zeppelin and Foo Fighters sprang up on the website of the city’s Metro concert hall.
The trio were joined on stage by Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Alain Johannes for the August 9 gig, which had one reviewer, from the Chicago Sun-Times, declaring them “a supergroup that not only deserves that appellation but which actually is greater than the sum of its storied parts.”
They made their second appearance at Amsterdam’s Melkweg club on August 19, and turned up in Belgium at the Pukkelpop festival the following day. The next day they wowed a festival crowd in The Netherlands.
As well as tonight’s perfromance at the O2 Academy Brixton, the band is rumoured to be making a surprise appearance at this weekend’s Reading and Leeds festivals.
