As the old song puts it, the music goes round and round. Indeed it does. The Argentinian singer Juana Molina works with a couple of looping samplers, building tracks that go round and round and round and round and round, hypnotically repeating as they subtly shift, each new layer making you hear the whole thing again. There are, I suppose, several reasons why you might choose not to bother with Molina’s work — the lack of English lyrics, the lack of a verse-chorus structure — but her talent is so extraordinary that you surely owe it to yourself to, at the very least, have a quick listen to her online. Should you go one stage further and invest in Un Dia, you can luxuriate in the amazing sequence of tracks — Los Hongos de Marosa, Quien, El Vistado — that forms the high point of this album.
