The V Festival cemented its reputation as a big band magnet last night when it announced Oasis and The Killers as this year’s headliners.
Two of the world’s most successful bands, both are enjoying a spike in popularity – Oasis off the back of new album Dig Out Your Soul and American group The Killers from the critically lauded Day & Age and singer Brandon Flowers’ dazzling Brits duet with The Pet Shop Boys.
The Virgin-sponsored event has also secured woman-of-the-moment Lady GaGa, new tabloid favourite Katy Perry and Brit and Mercury Prize winners Elbow.
The fringe duo turned chart-toppers The Ting Tings will also play at the August festival, as will top-sellers Snow Patrol and veteran DJ Fatboy Slim.
Held across two locations – Chelmsford and Staffordshire – the festival has also lined-up dance-floor filler Dizzee Rascal, the notoriously difficult but critically-appreciated Pete Doherty and the piano-based rock group Keane.
Announcing the line-up, Festival director, Bob Angus, said: “We're genuinely thrilled to have such an eclectic line-up this year.
"Our headliners, The Killers and Oasis, are two of the biggest acts in music today and with them being joined by some really exuberant newcomers”.
Tickets go on sale on March 6.
