This week presenter Nicola Christie speaks to not one star but two, with Glyndebourne star Danielle De Niese and the Halle Orchestra's maestro Mark Elder. We take chief rock critic Pete Paphides to the Folk Prom, and Richard Morrison tells us what to watch out for next week.

De Niese talks about the challenges of bringing Monteverdi to the Royal Albert Hall's unique acoustics, explains where her soprano voice sits in the various types and talks about her love of Handel.

Next we kick off our regular slot taking your favourite Times writers' to the Proms. This week Pete Paphides, better known for his rock and pop reviews, goes along to the first ever free Prom, last weekend's Folk Prom: "a pretty good crash course if you're an ingenue arriving in the world of folk from nothing."
