The new James Bond movie will be called Quantum of Solace, the title of an original Ian Fleming short story from the compendium For Your Eyes Only.
The name was revealed today at Pinewood Studios, west of London, where filming began in November.
The hotly-anticipated movie, until now provisionally entitled Bond 22, stars British newcomer Gemma Arterton, 21, fresh out of drama school, who will play the role of MI6 Agent Fields.
Ukrainian model and actress Olga Kurylenko has been cast as the new Bond girl, the "dangerously alluring" Camille.
Casino Royale star Daniel Craig reprises his role as the famous spy.
Craig's debut in the role gave the Bond franchise a new lease of life.
It also emerged today that Craig was keen to do more Bond films after this one.
Producer Michael G Wilson said the title was taken from an original Fleming short story.
He said at a press conference: "It's from a Fleming short story from the compendium For Your Eyes Only. It's uncharacteristic of most of Fleming's work. It's a character study that doesn't involve plots or anything with spies.
"We thought it was an intriguing title that references what's happening to Bond and what's happening to him in this film."
Bond producer Barbara Broccoli said: "It's not a revenge movie. It's much more complicated than that. There's much more action and it also deals with the inner turmoil of Bond following Casino Royale.
Wilson said the new movie started off just an hour after the last film had ended.

I thought the production team were brave choosing a blond actor like Daniel Craig (who works hard and it shows) as I have been a fan since Dr. No and remember seeing the very first film Casino Royale with David Niven, whom I met in Switzerland and thought that Bond was a real person. Well done!

Pierce Brosnan doing a cameo wouldn't be against the spirit of Bond- The actor who played Bonds contact in Japan in Y.O.L.T. returned in Diamonds are Forever as Blofeld, and 'Brad Wittaker' from Living Daylights returned as a CIA agent (whose name momentarily escapes me) in Goldeneye and T.N.D.

Daniel Craig is formidable, lovely, very attractive and outrageously intelligent. Can hardly wait for Quantum of Solace. Does he get down to monkey business with any fortunate chica ? He`d let the chica lead between the sheets. I think she`d let him lead the conversation over cava and dinner. And how about a game of poker or even monopoly while letting the coq au vin bake ? What do you suppose they`d talk about ? Champs Elysees horsies or maybe the quality of the caviar in Paris ! Or maybe the latest Prevention of terrorism Act to be struck down by the most contemporary and contrary judge ! Les Anglaises adorent toi ! Smile ?

JD, you definitely made it more interesting. I wonder if Pierce will do some kind of cameo... surely that would be against the spirit of Bond...
