Heather Mills made it through to the second round of US TV show Dancing With The Stars today.
Sir Paul McCartney’s estranged wife surprised viewers with a backflip during a mambo with partner Jonathan Roberts on Monday and the pair are now in fifth place out of 11 couples.
The show’s judges have applauded Mills’ decision to enter the competition despite only having one leg and have praised her for her daring mambo performance. Viewers, however, have expressed mixed feelings.
The show’s online messageboard has seen endless arguments over Mills’ expected divorce pay-out and controversial reputation in the UK. “People in the UK hate her so what does she do? Comes to the US to try and get our sympathy,” wrote “Nopityvote.” “Titinina” said, “The show is called Dancing With The Stars. I don't think marrying a star, makes you a star.”
New American fans have defended Mills. Viewer “Grannysue0222” wrote on the messageboard, “Give her a chance. Her personal life is just that.”
Between her US fans and the Dancing With The Stars judges, Mills had enough support to keep her on the show for another round.
Supermodel Paulina Porizkova was not as lucky and was the first contestant to go.
