She’s been voted out once already during “fake week”, but come Friday the loud, leggy Charley Uchea will face a real Big Brother eviction. The self-proclaimed London It-girl was last night put up for eviction along with 37-year-old raver Tracey Barnard.
Nominated by their fellow housemates, both women have driven their competitors to distraction, but in different and distinct ways.
Uchea has taken a three-pronged approach, employing arrogance, aggression and ignorance. Between loud screaming matches with any housemate brave or unlucky enough to get in her way, Uchea preens, poses and reminds others she is the slimmest and most stylish woman in the house. Attempts to confront or ignore her are quickly explained away as jealousy.
In the occasional quiet moment when Uchea has allowed others to speak, she has been surprised to find gaps in her knowledge. Gerry Stergiopoulos confounded her by revealing England was home to an ancient relic called Stonehenge. On another occasion she demonstrated her vast knowledge of the animal kingdom when a moth flew into the Big Brother garden. “Can somebody get that bird?” she screeched.
Barnard’s brand of irritation is less brash but perhaps more disturbing. The raving cleaner from Fordham speaks of herself in the third person and responds to all situations with one of three phrases: “’Aving it”, “larging it” or “deal wif it”.
In the early weeks of Big Brother, a few housemates generously passed off her loose grip of the English language as endearing, but two months later, they’ve had it with “’aving it”.
Barnard has already faced eviction twice before, while Uchea has been nominated once before. Two weeks ago Uchea was up against Nicky Maxwell but was saved by “fake week”. She was voted out before being told the eviction wasn't real and returning to the house. But whoever is voted out this Friday won't be so lucky.
