Oh, Big Brother can be cruel! In the Channel 4 show’s latest twist, Ziggy Lichman, Tracey Barnard and twins Amanda and Sam Marchant will be made to evict a housemate on Friday.
The four were given immunity from this week’s eviction, after achieving “guru status” in the latest hippy-inspired task, but must now tell a fellow contestant face-to-face that they have to leave the house.
To add to the dilemma, the “gurus” can’t pick just anyone. First the public will vote, narrowing the potential evictees down to two, then, Lichman, Baranard and the Marchants will be told to decide who goes.
If bookmakers’ odds are anything to go by, the gurus could be deciding between Kara Louise and Jonty. William Hill says the pair, who entered the show late as “halfway housemates,” are the least favourite housemates and most unlikely to win the show.
It’s not the first time producers have showed a sadistic side. The housemates have already marinated in a pool of fish remains, survived on a diet of slop and water and been shown footage of their fellow housemates nominating them.
While producers’ ploys might cause discomfort, housemates remain distinguished at causing their own trouble. Although the Big Brother house has been infinitely calmer since the demise of “Chiggy” (the romance of Lichman and Chanelle Hayes) and the departure of leggy loudmouth Charley Uchea, rows still rage.
Early this morning an argument erupted after Barnard accused Lichman of faking his relationship with Chanelle Hayes.
“You've gone and said that I had been fake," Lichman said.
"I didn't believe it, yeh," Barnard replied.
"So you saying I've been fake the whole time? You have no friendship with me at all."
Lichman went on to raise the hopes of Chiggy fans by hinting he would prove Barnard wrong by reconciling with Hayes when Big Brother finishes on August 31.
If he’s serious, he may be in for a pleasant surprise. This week Hayes told Heat magazine she was still interested in the former boy band member.
