After 22 years as a BBC fixture, the audience-grabbing, pop-star breeding Australian soap Neighbours is moving to Channel Five.
To commemorate Ramsay Street’s relocation this week, we look back at the most memorable Neighbours moments.
15.The piss-poor Robinson corporation
More dentist reception than Ewing Oil.
14. Daphne's death
Like, was that her in the bed or an actress with a Daphne wig? The romance of Des and Daphne (Mr Ordinary and the ex-stripper) was an early Neighbours classic so we felt this one hard.
13. Susan's amnesia
She slipped on milk, bumped her head and thought she was 16 again. Her failure to understand why she was living with a family on Ramsay Street lasted nearly a year.
12. Madge's death
Oh, how sad. Madge ended up, in the grip of terminal illness, looking like a frail Womble. She died with Harold and whichever two youngsters were living at her pad by her side and is now in Emmerdale playing Edna's pot-smoking sister - hair is its vivid red again. And that wonderful voice back at full throttle.
11. The various Lucy Robinsons (3)
OK, so there was Kylie Flinker who looked like a normal little girl. Then there was Sasha Close, who looked like a slightly older, butcher version. Then there was Melissa Bell - blonde, busty, saucy Lucy who - sorry to be brutal - could not act. But at least she looked like all the other blondes suddenly invading Aussie soaps around that time.
10. Kerry dies at duck shoot
As the ducks quack all around and Joe gathers her in his befleeced arms, Neighbours eco-hippy Kerry Bishop dies saving ze animals.
9. The transformation of Plain Jane Superbrain into prom queen
Again, a barely remembered moment, but long before the days of makeover television the momentous reveal of Jane - previously memorable in her daggy blazer and terribly parted hair - as super-foxy, big haired balldress-wearing lovely sent Mrs Mangel, and us, into shock.
8. Harold's dream sequence
Less-remembered than Bouncer's dream was Harold's slumberous fantasy in which he was the imperious Earl of Doon of Scotland. The rest of the cast became peasants grovelling at his feet.
7. Jim's death scene
Jim sent a bowl of fruit flying as his scheming partner, Fiona, lets him die before getting on the phone to pocket his cash.
6. Bouncer saves Madge from chip pan fire
One of those scenes you think you might have imagined, but no, Bouncer tenaciously calls the emergency services as an inferno engulfs the Mangels.
5. Jim and Doug's river trip
Jim and Doug innocently eat some mushrooms while on a camping trip, only to awake later tripping out, with Doug hallucinating an inquisitive pig. What were the writers on?
4. Harold's death
Well his first death. Off some rocks into what seemed to be a rockpool, but apparently this led to being swept out to sea. Madge clutched his glasses. He later came back as a Sally Army guy.
3. Helen's death
Totally weird and freaky. She dies in front of a video of Ramsay Street highlights, and her grandkid realised it and didn't say anything. Her spirit floats above the Bungle Bungles.
2. Bouncer's romantic dream
The heroic labrador snoozes off to imagine his wedding to Rosie, the hot sheepdog next door. This never happened to Ethel's Willie.
1. Charlene and Scott's wedding
Angry Anderson, the Vaseline on the camera and Kylie looking like a monstrous meringue. Loved it.
The final BBC One screening of Neighbours is on Friday, February 8. From Monday February 11, the show will screen on Channel Five.
