As “big brother” databases become a reality and an Orwellian dystopia appears ever closer, one man refuses to relent. Border control is an increasingly contentious issue in America but one man knows his rights and he's not afraid to use them (tinyurl.com/49293d). As this cameraman passes through a Homeland Security border-control checkpoint he takes photos of and argues with a perplexed official, who finally concedes that he is not being detained and allows him to continue unfettered. Just goes to show what a little legal know-how can achieve.
Imagine if Facebook was real life. Of course, it is real life in the sense that users (and note the addiction pun there) organise their events, maintain friendships and cultivate their personality on it. But imagine if you were actually forced to exchange the kind of information you merrily hand out to your “friends” on Facebook face to face. In this sketch currently popping up all over the web, (buzzfeed.com/eliot/facebook-in-real-life), “Eddie from school” turns up at one confused punter's house and insists that he “confirm or ignore” his request for friendship on the spot. He admits they didn't get on back in the day but demands to know his relationship status and broadcasts “hilarious” pictures of them vomiting on an exchange trip. Web watcher has never wanted to be free from the shackles of social networking more.
While Sex and the City and Indiana Jones addicts wait with bated breath for their latest hit, there's another, marginally less vocal, fan base waiting for theirs. The Beverly Hills, 90210 spinoff, shortly to be shown in America, has released a teaser trailer online (tinyurl.com/6jqma5); although, Brenda, Brandon and Dylan are gone, it looks set to be just as silly and just as saucy as the hit 1990s teen drama. The clip promises something “cooler, sexier and more provocative”. Cooler than 90210 - seriously?!
