Nervous Big Brother producers handed out their first warning of the series last night, after housemate Alexandra De-Gale shouted and swore at fellow contestants.
Already the most unpopular housemate, the accounts executive from south London erupted after Rebecca Shiner offered to cook the housemates chips but burnt them.
Alexandra accused Rebecca of cooking only to gain popularity and refused to accept Rebecca’s explanation. When Rachel Rice came to her friend’s defence, Alexandra shouted her down: "Getting up and trying to play the martyr, trying to defend anyone, you might as well just sit back babes. That kind of s***'s not gonna wash round me."
The tirade continued until Rebecca and Stephanie McMichael were visibly upset and trainee teacher Rachel was crying. Alexandra was then called to the Diary Room and issued with a warning. Big Brother told the 23-year-old single mother that "unacceptable behaviour" would not be tolerated in the house.
The show faced a public outcry after Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty was bullied on the last series of Celebrity Big Brother. In an unprecedented move, Ofcom ordered Channel 4 to apologise after it failed to stop Jade Goody, Jo O’Meara and Danielle Lloyd bullying the Indian actress.
After six days in the house, Alexandra has already been nick named “The Queen of Mean” and Ladbrokes rates her the least likely of the 16 contestants to win.
