Someone always has to do it, and this summer Mario Marconi is occupying the unenviable position of Big Brother Laughing Stock. He qualified for the job by delivering an array of David Brent-style monologues, but they may have all slipped under the radar had it not been for one reputation-ruining moment (tinyurl.com/6c7hku) when he announced that he was extraordinarily popular and had a fan club. The reason for his supposed appeal? He appeared on Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway for five minutes two years ago.
Now one avid YouTuber has dug up the footage Marconi believes won him fans. View the clip at tinyurl.com/6hh3c5. You will be baffled. Set up by his girlfriend, Marconi is caught telling various strangers that he is Matt Le Blanc, Sylvester Stallone, and even, God help him, Paul Burrell. Of the many low points, rock bottom must be the moment when, while impersonating Sly, he boasts that he plays golf with Tiger Woods.
Now on to talented reality TV stars. The Britain's Got Talent winner George Sampson has competition in the form of the American breakdancer Robert Muraine. Known on the street, deservedly, as Mr Fantastic, he has won a large fanbase after appearing on the US show So You Think You Can Dance. Although he doesn't so much dance as contort rhythmically. With a head that moves in isolation from his body, wrists that bend the wrong way and knees that rotate unnaturally, he has to be seen to be believed (tinyurl.com/6e3hos ). Did we mention that his chin has moves?
If you have just returned from Glastonbury smug that you bought a ticket the one year that escaped torrential downpours, add to the feeling by watching the wet and muddy Journey to Glastonbury 2005 (video.google.co.uk/videosearch?q=glastonbury&hl=en&sitesearch=#).
