Listen to Peaches Geldof's husband's band
Despite ambulance call-outs and an ever-changing parade of boyfriends, Peaches Geldof has managed to top her own headline-grabbing behaviour by marrying a rock musician in Las Vegas.
The 19-year-old daughter of Sir Bob Geldof and the late Paula Yates wed the little-known American musician Max Drummey, 23, in a 15-minute ceremony last week.
No family members were present at the wedding, but Boomtown Rats frontman turned philanthropist Sir Bob was informed of his daughter’s plans shortly before she walked down the aisle.
A spokesperson for Geldof, a DJ and occasional TV presenter, said the pair, who became an item last month, had the support of her family and friends. "The couple had not intended to publicise their marriage, but decided to confirm the event due to mounting media speculation."
Rev Steven Fabretti, who performed the ceremony, told The Sun that Geldof and Drummey looked "very happy together".
"They held hands and looked eye-to-eye - with him still wearing sunglasses - during the ceremony. I remember the bride looked very young and pale and quite angelic," he told the newspaper.
Tabloid speculation suggested Geldof’s ex-boyfriend, the Horrors musician Faris Badwin, believed they were still together until he heard she had married Drummey, but her spokesperson said the newly weds had the support of the singer.
The couple met a year ago but they became romantically involved after last month’s iTunes Festival, where Drummey’s band played and Geldof hosted ITV’s coverage.
Drummey is a multi-instrumentalist with Chester French – a little known indie group with some superstar fans. The two-man band counts hip-hop heavyweights Pharrell Williams, Kayne West and Jermaine Dupri as supporters. All three offered the duo a record deal but they accepted Williams and are working on their debut album.
Geldof is a tabloid favourite, known foremost as one of a crew of celebrity offspring who haunt London’s bars and clubs, but she has ventured into DJ-ing and, recently, TV presenting.
Last month, an ambulance was called to a Camden flat to tend to Geldof. She has denied it was a response to an overdose, but admitted it was drug-related. “It wasn’t an overdose. I had a bad experience.”
Geldof’s parents also married in Las Vegas but separated after a decade together, a few years before TV presenter Yates died of a drug overdose.

What amuses me is that she's stated that they married so she could live in America.
I was under the impression that US immigration takes a fairly hard line on that kind of thing. Anyone remember Green Card?
