The granddaughter of Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs called today for Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand to be sacked for their lewd phone calls.
Georgina Baillie, 23, also threatened that she could make an official complaint to police.
Miss Baillie admitted that she had slept with Brand, and said that she felt “totally and utterly exposed and betrayed” by the calls that were broadcast on Radio 2.
The high-earning presenters left a series of crude messages on Sachs’ answerphone during a pre-recorded radio show. They included boasts from Brand about his sexual relationship with Miss Baillie, and jokes from the DJs that veteran actor Sachs might kill himself as a result of the revelation.
“What’s funny about humiliating a lovely old man who has never harmed anyone in his life?" said Miss Baillie, in an interview with The Sun.
"My grandfather is really upset and says he wants the whole situation to end.
“I will be speaking to him to ask whether we should complain to the police and we’ll be making the decision as a family."
She called Brand and Ross "cruel sickos" and said: “They should at least pay for what they’ve done with their jobs.”
She added that the BBC executives who allowed the DJs’ on-air calls to be broadcast should also be sacked.
The BBC has received more than 18,000 complaints since the broadcast, which has also prompted an official investigation from media watchdog Ofcom and drawn widespread condemnation.
Sachs, 78, told the BBC yesterday that his granddaughter “feels very guilty”.
“I have not seen or spoken to Georgina yet. She’s very upset at having put her family through this and she feels very guilty,” he said.
As to seeing her in the newspapers, he said: “I do not like it, would you? But it’s her life and I just let her get on with it.
“Jonathan Ross has personally delivered a letter of apology and some flowers. He made no excuses and was very frank and open. He’s in a lot of trouble and I don’t want to pile any more on him.
“My granddaughter hasn’t heard from either Ross or Brand and I do think they owe her an apology.”
Miss Baillie’s comments came amid intense pressure on the BBC to crack down on the broadcasting of offensive material.
The Prime Minister joined the furore yesterday, saying: “This is clearly inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour, as is now widely recognised. Ofcom have said they will investigate the matter and it is for the BBC, the BBC Trust and Ofcom to take any appropriate action.”
Brand and Ross, who present a show on the same radio channel, began making calls after Sachs apparently did not answer his phone for a pre-arranged interview to promote a television show.
Ross left a message telling Sachs: “He f***** your granddaughter.”
Brand denied this, but added: “Oh no, I have revealed I know her name.”
The pair made a string of calls in which they ostensibly attempted to apologise for what was “just a joke”, but continued to leave lewd messages.
A young BBC producer was reportedly given the responsibility of calling Sachs to check if he would be happy for the messages to go out. But an unnamed senior editorial figure was also said to have given the broadcast the go-ahead.
