In May, we offered Times readers the opportunity to nominate an unloved public space for a much-needed facelift, to be carried out by the British designers Sir Terence Conran and Tara Bernerd.

Over the past month, the YourSpace competition, run jointly with mydeco.com, has received nearly 200 nominations, ranging from Scout huts to park pavilions, hospital waiting rooms and even the odd police station. At the same time, we asked you to vote for the most deserving space. Here we feature your top ten.

“Just as you are what you eat, you feel how you live,” says Tara. “Even a spring-clean makes you feel better, and with YourSpace we’re taking that a step farther so that the community feels a whole lot better.”

“We’re seeing a switch back to people thinking more about the community, which is why we’re asking them to vote for the most deserving space,” says Brent Hoberman, founder of mydeco.com, the online design shop. “So this competition is very much in the zeitgeist.”

Voting for the Your Space competition has closed. The winning nomination will be announced on August 13.
