Cigarette box

In the box the head of one of the dogs lifts to reveal a flint lighter, while the table top holds the cigarettes. The piece is probably German and made in the 1920s. It costs £95 on the Decorative Arts of Chester stand at the Antiques for Everyone Fair, which has more than 400 specialist dealers showing their wares. Green Paradiso dropper by Peter Layton

Layton is one of the foremost British artists in glass, and founder of the London Glassblowing Workshop in the Leathermarket, Weston Street, London SE1 (near London Bridge). The “dropper” can be seen as an abstract sculpture but could also be used to hold one or two flowers.
