Source of wealth: Music
An arena tour this year will mark 50 years in the music business for the evergreen singer of Summer Holiday, Living Doll and Miss You Nights. Loyal fans and regular revenue from records and live shows put Richard, 67, in our list. Based in Surrey, he also has a Barbados house to supplement his Portuguese set-up, where he recently opened a commercial vineyard producing Vida Nova wine. His company, Balladeer, paid out nearly £12m in salaries between 1999 and 2005, virtually all going to Richard. As he has never written his own songs, the singer has missed out on this lucrative income stream, but our music expert reckons the royalties from 250m record sales over the course of his career make him worth £50m.
